What Is a Tax Refund Advance?

A tax refund advance, also called a refund advance loan, is a short-term loan based on the federal refund you expect to receive. At APEX, the refund advance we offer is the SBTPG Fast Cash Advance, a tax-refund related loan provided by First Century Bank, N.A., Member FDIC.

If you are approved, the bank pays you the advance first. When the IRS releases your refund, the loan amount plus interest is deducted from it, and the rest of your refund is paid to you. There is nothing to repay out of pocket as long as your refund covers the loan.
